We look forward to reviewing your submitted ideas.
Winter 2025 GIE Themes
As pressing issues of anti-DEI practices and policies shape higher education, international education, and society, sustaining our commitment to inclusive excellence is more dire than ever before.
For the Spring 2025 edition of The Global Impact Exchange, Diversity Abroad invites abstract proposals that explore a range of topics and questions within this broader theme.
Understanding Specific Challenges
- Policy and Legislation: Discuss the impact of recent or anticipated policy changes (e.g., immigration reform, restrictions on state funding for DEI initiatives, SB17, affirmative action) on DEI and inclusive excellence initiatives.
- Social and Cultural Shifts: Explore how societal attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors (e.g., increased polarization, economic inequality) affect DEI and inclusive excellence efforts.
- Institutional Barriers: Analyze internal challenges within institutions and organizations (e.g., lack of resources, resistance to change, systemic biases) that hinder DEI and inclusive excellence progress.
Sharing Strategies for Sustaining Commitment
- Leadership and Advocacy: Examine the role of leaders in fostering a culture of inclusive excellence and advocating for inclusive policies.
- Community Engagement: Discuss strategies for building alliances and partnerships with diverse communities to support inclusive excellence initiatives.
- Education and Training: Explore the importance of ongoing education and training to promote understanding, awareness, and skills related to inclusive excellence.
Measuring and Assessing Impact
- Metrics and Indicators:Discuss the challenges and best practices for measuring and assessing the effectiveness of DEI and inclusive excellence initiatives.
- Accountability and Transparency:: Explore the importance of accountability and transparency in ensuring that inclusive excellence commitments are met.
This call for abstract article proposals aims to highlight the complexities surrounding these issues, shedding light on both the barriers that exist and the strategies that can foster meaningful impact to sustaining commitment and progress toward inclusive excellence.
